Key Takeaways· An Indian traveller cannot file a Singapore visa application personally; an authorised visa agent of the Singapore mission for your state, or a Singapore citizen or PR with Singpass, submits it online. · Approved applications are issued as a printable e-Visa with no passport sticker, usually 3 to 5 working days after an agent in India submits the file. · An e-Visa lets you seek entry but does not guarantee it: ICA officers at the checkpoint decide whether you enter and how long you may stay. |
The application is made online, but not by you: an authorised visa agent appointed by the Singapore mission for your state submits it, or a Singapore citizen or PR with Singpass can submit it for you (ICA, Check if you need an entry visa, accessed 2026-09-17). There is no page on ica.gov.sg where an Indian traveller can fill in and pay for their own Singapore visa. That is how a Singapore e-Visa application from India works.
This guide is maintained by Zurich Kotak General Insurance, an IRDAI-registered general insurer in India and part of the Zurich Insurance Group. It covers the application route; for visa types, eligibility and the wider picture, see our guide to the Singapore visa for Indians .

Who can submit a Singapore visa application for you
ICA’s visa e-service, SAVE, lets four kinds of submitter file an application, and the traveller is not one of them. Its landing page at eservices.ica.gov.sg describes the service as a facility to “apply for a Singapore entry visa as a local contact or authorised visa agent or strategic partner” (ICA, Apply for Entry Visa, accessed 2026-09-17). ICA adds: “ICA does not accept submission of visa application over the immigration counters.”
Route | Who submits | Open to an Indian tourist? |
Authorised visa agent | An agent appointed by the Singapore mission for your state | Yes, the usual route |
Local contact, individual | A Singapore citizen or PR aged 21 or over, with Singpass | Yes, if you have one |
Local contact, business | Someone acting for a Singapore-registered entity, with Corppass | Business visits only |
Strategic partner | A Singapore-based partner registered with ICA | Not a consumer route |
Walk-in at a mission in India | Not offered | No |
ICA’s page also names “the nearest Singapore Overseas Mission”, but the missions in India describe agent-only submission. Mumbai says it “no longer accepts walk-in applications” and that “Only our Authorised Visa Agents are allowed to do the online submission on behalf of the applicant” (Consulate-General of Singapore, Mumbai, accessed 2026-09-17). Chennai has taken no individual walk-ins since 2009-04-01, and New Delhi describes documents going to an authorised agent, who submits them online. Do not plan a visit to a mission to apply.
Travelling to Singapore? Get covered before you fly. Travel insurance for Singapore plays no part in the visa application, but once the e-Visa arrives it is the cover for the hospital bill a visa never pays.
How to apply for a Singapore e-Visa from India, step by step
You prepare the form and papers, the agent files them on SAVE, and you can track and print the result yourself. ICA advises applying within 30 days before your arrival date.
1. Confirm you need a visa. Indian ordinary passport holders do, and there is no visa on arrival. The only entry without a visa is the conditional 96-hour transit facility; see is Singapore visa-free for Indians .
2. Pick an authorised visa agent from your mission’s own list (next section) before sharing passport details.
3. Complete and sign Form 14A. The form is free from ica.gov.sg , and Chennai asks for “all columns and blank spaces to be completed”. The supporting papers are covered in our Singapore tourist visa documents guide, and the photo rules in Singapore visa photo size .
4. Hand over the file and pay. Through a New Delhi or Mumbai agent that is INR 2,100 plus an INR 1,300 service charge; Chennai’s schedule differs. See Singapore visa fees for Indians .
5. The agent submits the application on SAVE. The acknowledgement page generates your visa reference number at this point, so ask the agent for it.
6. Wait for the decision. Through an agent in India this generally takes 3 to 5 working days, and some applications take longer (High Commission of Singapore, New Delhi, accessed 2026-09-17); our page on Singapore visa processing time explains the count.
7. Track it yourself. SAVE shows the status using the reference number and your passport number, with no login; see Singapore visa status check .
8. Print the e-Visa once approved. Your agent can give you a copy, or you can print it from the same status screen.
9. File the SG Arrival Card in the three days before you land, arrival day included. It is free and it is not a visa; see our Singapore Arrival Card guide.
Choosing an authorised visa agent
Use the list published by the Singapore mission that covers your state: ICA publishes only user manuals for agents, not the lists. What each mission publishes, as read on 2026-09-17:
Mission | Area it names | Where to find its agents |
High Commission, New Delhi ( new-delhi.mfa.gov.sg ) | Agents in Delhi NCR, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab | A PDF on its Authorised Visa Agents page |
Consulate-General, Mumbai ( mumbai.mfa.gov.sg ) | Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat and Odisha | Its page refers to a list of participating agents but does not link it; call the Consulate-General on +91 22 6150 2900 |
Consulate-General, Chennai ( chennai.mfa.gov.sg ) | Agents in Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad | A PDF linked from its visa information page |
Four checks before you hand anything over:
· Your state may not be named. Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Bihar, for example, are not, so check with the missions first.
· Take the list only from a . gov.sg site. An agent that is not on it works outside the missions’ fee rules: Mumbai states it “will not be liable for any additional charges imposed by third party (non-authorised) agents.”
· No agent decides your visa. New Delhi says every application “will be considered on its own merits and subject to approval”, so treat any promise of guaranteed approval as a warning sign.
· ICA does not phone for money. Its e-service warns: “ICA will NEVER ask for money/bank log-in details by phone.”
If a friend or relative in Singapore applies for you
A Singapore citizen or permanent resident aged 21 or over, with a Singpass account, can submit your application on SAVE without any agent. For a business visit, the local contact must act for a Singapore-registered entity and uses Corppass. The contact may also need to sign Form V39A, a Letter of Introduction, which ICA says may be required case by case. On this route ICA’s S$30 fee (about INR 2,256 at 1 SGD = INR 75.2 on 2026-09-17) is paid online by card, and on approval the local contact can print your e-Visa (ICA, India visa requirements, accessed 2026-09-17).
What you receive: the e-Visa
An approved application produces an e-Visa that you print; nothing is stuck in your passport. ICA replaced visa stickers with the e-Visa from 2008-08-26 (ICA media release, accessed 2026-09-17). On approval, ICA says, “your local contact, strategic partner or authorised visa agent can use the e-Service to print a copy of your e-Visa for you”, and Chennai says your agent “can provide you a copy of your e-Visa.” You can also print it from SAVE’s status enquiry, and Mumbai notes the same steps reprint a lost copy.
Carry a printed copy when you fly, as sensible practice rather than an ICA rule.
ICA states that “Possession of a valid visa does not guarantee entry into Singapore” (ICA, Check if you need an entry visa, accessed 2026-09-17). Officers at the checkpoint decide entry and the length of stay, and since 2022-03-11 visitors are told their permitted stay by an e-Pass email sent to the address given in the SG Arrival Card. Validity cannot be amended after issue, and a new passport makes the visa invalid (Mumbai), so apply on the passport you will travel with.
Mistakes that slow an application down
Most delays and refusals that applicants can control come from the route or the paperwork, not from ICA.
Mistake | What happens | Do this instead |
Going to the High Commission or a Consulate-General | The missions in India take applications through agents | Use an agent on your mission’s list |
Leaving gaps in Form 14A | ICA says insufficient documentation may lead to non-acceptance | Complete every field and sign the form |
A photo that breaks ICA’s rules | ICA says it can delay the application or lead to rejection | Follow the photo specification |
Applying months ahead | ICA advises applying within 30 days before arrival | Apply inside that window |
Buying non-refundable tickets first | New Delhi says the loss is yours if the visa is refused | Tickets are not needed to apply |
Not keeping the reference number | You cannot check the status yourself | Ask the agent for it at submission |
Where travel insurance fits
Travel insurance is not mandatory for a Singapore visa or for entry, but it is strongly recommended because medical treatment for visitors is expensive. Neither the visa application nor the SG Arrival Card asks for proof of insurance, and holding a policy has no bearing on ICA’s decision.
Zurich Kotak’s Smart Travel plans treat Singapore as Asia geography, with two tiers: Excel, sum insured up to USD 100,000, and Prime, up to USD 500,000. The Asia plans accept travellers up to age 70, with no Senior Citizen plan on this geography; for travellers aged 71 or over, see travel insurance for senior citizens . The plans cover emergency medical treatment, with baggage, trip delay, trip cancellation, passport loss and medical evacuation covered up to plan limits, and claims run through Europ Assistance India on a cashless or reimbursement basis. Once the e-Visa is approved, see travel insurance for Singapore .
FAQs
Q: Can I apply for a Singapore visa online myself? A: Not as an individual in India. The application is made online on ICA’s SAVE e-service, but an authorised visa agent appointed by the Singapore mission for your state submits it, or a Singapore citizen or PR aged 21 or over with Singpass submits it for you. SAVE has no applicant login.
Q: What is the official website for the Singapore e-Visa? A: ICA’s website, ica.gov.sg , and its e-service host, eservices.ica.gov.sg , home of the Apply for Entry Visa service (SAVE). Travellers use it to check status and print an approved e-Visa; an agent or local contact makes the submission.
Q: Can I apply at the Singapore High Commission or Consulate in India? A: Not in person. Mumbai no longer accepts walk-in applications and lets only its authorised visa agents submit online, Chennai stopped individual walk-ins in 2009, and New Delhi describes submission through its agents. Use an agent listed by the mission for your state.
Q: How do I find an authorised Singapore visa agent? A: Use the list published by the Singapore mission for your state. New Delhi and Chennai publish PDF lists on their visa pages; Mumbai’s page mentions a list without linking it, so call the Consulate-General on +91 22 6150 2900. ICA itself does not publish agent lists.
Q: Will I get a visa sticker in my passport? A: No. Singapore has issued e-Visas instead of passport stickers since 2008-08-26. Your agent can give you a printed copy, or you can print it yourself from ICA’s status enquiry using the visa reference number and your passport number.
