Singapore Visa Processing Time: How Many Days It Takes from India

A Singapore visa filed through an agent in India takes 3 to 5 working days; ICA says three. When to apply, what adds days, and what to do if you fly soon.

Key Takeaways

·       A Singapore visa filed through an authorised agent in India takes 3 to 5 working days, excluding the submission day, weekends and public holidays, and some take longer.

·       ICA advises applying within 30 days before arrival; Chennai’s Consulate-General recommends at least one week ahead off-peak and two to four weeks ahead for March to May.

·       No Singapore authority publishes an express processing time, so treat any promised same-day or guaranteed turnaround with caution.

A Singapore visa applied for through an authorised visa agent in India takes 3 to 5 working days, counted after the day of submission and excluding weekends and public holidays (High Commission of Singapore, New Delhi, accessed 2026-09-17). ICA itself says three working days, and every official source adds that some applications take longer. Below: the Singapore visa processing time as each source states it, how to count the days, when to apply, and what adds days.

This guide is maintained by Zurich Kotak General Insurance, an IRDAI-registered general insurer in India and part of the Zurich Insurance Group. It covers timing only; for the visa itself, see our guide to the Singapore visa for Indians .

Singapore visa processing time: what each official source says

The missions in India state 3 to 5 working days and ICA states three, and the two do not conflict: the missions’ figure covers the agent route that applications from India take. All read on 2026-09-17 on ica.gov.sg , new-delhi.mfa.gov.sg , mumbai.mfa.gov.sg and chennai.mfa.gov.sg :

Travelling to Singapore? Get covered before you fly. Travel insurance for Singapore does not change how fast a visa comes through, but it covers the medical bills a visa never will.

How to count the working days

Start on the first working day after submission, skip weekends and public holidays, and treat working days three to five as the window.

The table assumes no public holiday; each one pushes the window back a day. The missions do not say whose holidays count, so allow for holidays in both India and Singapore.

The clock starts at submission, and who submits matters. Chennai counts from submission to its authorised visa agent. New Delhi describes documents going to the agent, then the agent submitting them online, then processing. Ask your agent which day it will file.

When to apply for a Singapore visa

Apply within the 30 days before arrival, and at least one week ahead off-peak or two to four weeks ahead between March and May.

Two worked examples:

·       A Delhi family flying on 2027-04-20, in the peak months. The 30-day window opens around 2027-03-21, and the two-to-four-week guidance points to applying between 2027-03-23 and 2027-04-06.

·       A Chennai couple flying on 2026-10-30, off-peak. They can apply from around 2026-09-30 and should do so by 2026-10-23, earlier if a public holiday falls that week.

A return date after the visa expires is not a problem in itself. The Chennai FAQ: “There is no need to apply for a new visa as long as your travel date to Singapore is within the visa validity period.”

What adds days to a Singapore visa application

Weekends, public holidays, an incomplete file, a non-compliant photo and a request for more papers are the delays the official sources name.

Is there express or urgent Singapore visa processing?

No Singapore authority publishes an express processing time, so a promise of same-day or guaranteed approval rests on no official timeline. Mumbai states: “There are no additional charges for urgent visa applications.” An urgent application through a Mumbai agent should therefore cost the same INR 2,100 plus INR 1,300 as any other; see Singapore visa fees for Indians . Urgency cannot change the decision either: New Delhi says every application “will be considered on its own merits and subject to approval.”

If your trip is close

If you fly within a week, speak to your agent before it files, submit a complete file, and book nothing non-refundable until the visa is approved.

·       There is no fallback at the airport. Singapore has no visa on arrival for Indian passport holders. ICA does not accept visa applications at the immigration counter, so the visa must be approved before you fly.

·       Track the application yourself with the reference number and your passport number; see Singapore visa status check .

·       Check the transit rule only if it genuinely applies. Indians without a Singapore visa can enter only under the 96-hour Visa Free Transit Facility, and only if they meet its conditions; it is for onward travel to a third country, not a holiday. See Singapore transit visa for Indians .

·       If the visa is not approved in time, move the trip. Once issued, a visa’s validity cannot be amended, so new dates outside that window need a new application (Chennai FAQ).

After approval: validity and length of stay

The visa’s validity is the window in which you may seek entry; how long you stay is decided at the checkpoint. ICA: “The period of stay in Singapore is not tied to the validity of your visa” (ICA, Check if you need an entry visa, accessed 2026-09-17). The stay granted is emailed to you as an e-Pass. For visa types and validity, see Singapore tourist visa for Indians .

Where travel insurance fits

Travel insurance is not mandatory for a Singapore visa or for entry, but it is strongly recommended because medical treatment for visitors is expensive. It has no effect on processing time or on ICA’s decision, so buy it once the visa is approved and your dates are firm.

Zurich Kotak’s Smart Travel plans treat Singapore as Asia geography, on two tiers: Excel, sum insured up to USD 100,000, and Prime, up to USD 500,000. The Asia plans accept travellers up to age 70, and there is no Senior Citizen plan on this geography; for travellers aged 71 or over, see travel insurance for senior citizens . Cover centres on emergency medical treatment, with baggage, trip delay, trip cancellation, passport loss and medical evacuation covered up to plan limits, and claims run through Europ Assistance India on a cashless or reimbursement basis. See travel insurance for Singapore .

FAQs

Q: How many days does it take to get a Singapore visa from India? A: Generally 3 to 5 working days through an authorised visa agent, counted after the day of submission and excluding weekends and public holidays. ICA states three working days, and every official source says some applications take longer.

Q: Does ICA process Singapore visas in three working days? A: ICA states that applications are processed within three working days, excluding the day of submission. The Singapore missions in India give 3 to 5 working days for applications made through their authorised visa agents, which is the figure to plan on.

Q: How early can I apply for a Singapore visa? A: ICA and the Singapore missions in India advise applying within 30 days before arrival. The Chennai Consulate-General recommends applying at least one week ahead off-peak and two to four weeks ahead for March to May.

Q: Can I get a Singapore visa urgently? A: No express timeline is published by ICA or the missions in India. The Mumbai Consulate-General says there are no additional charges for urgent applications, but every application is still considered on its own merits.

Q: Are weekends counted in Singapore visa processing time? A: No. The missions in India count working days only, excluding the day of submission, weekends and public holidays, so an application submitted on a Friday reaches its third working day on the following Wednesday.

Q: What if my Singapore visa is taking longer than five working days? A: Some applications take longer, as every official source notes. Check the status on ICA’s SAVE e-service with your visa reference number and passport number, and contact the authorised visa agent that submitted the application.
