RTO Nagole: Driving Test Track, TG-08 Medchal and RTA Services

Office details checked against Telangana Transport records on 16 September 2026.

Kiran searched for the Nagole RTO before his driving test. Most results gave him an address in Jeedimetla, nearly 30 km north. He very nearly drove there.

The government facility at Nagole is a driving test track and Telangana Transport lists it separately from any registration office. Several third-party directories present Nagole as the TG-08 office. That is wrong and it sends people to the wrong side of Hyderabad.

This page clarifies the difference between the Nagole driving test track and the TG-08 registration office, including their locations and the services handled at each facility.

What is the Nagole RTO facility?

Telangana Transport identifies the Nagole facility as the Nagole Driving Test Track.

It is a testing facility rather than a registration counter. Driving tests are conducted there under the Road Transport Authority.

Telangana calls these offices RTAs, short for Regional Transport Authority. Most people still search for them as RTOs and the two terms refer to the same system.

If you have a driving test slot at Nagole, this is where you go. If you need a registration certificate or a road tax payment, you need a different office.

Confirm your test venue on the slot confirmation before travelling. Test tracks and counters are sometimes at different addresses.

TG-08 is Medchal, not Nagole

Telangana Transport lists TG-08 as Medchal and the registration office for that code is at Jeedimetla.

This is where most directory pages go wrong. They take the TG-08 code, attach it to Nagole and publish the Medchal address underneath. The result is a page that names one locality and directs you to another.

The two are about 30 km apart, on opposite sides of Hyderabad.

Official jurisdiction data does not establish that the Medchal counter serves Nagole. Treat the code and the locality as separate questions.

Which RTA covers Uppal and the surrounding area?

Official jurisdiction data places Uppal under RTA Uppal, which has its own office.

Jurisdiction in Telangana is set by mandal and pincode, not by how people describe an area. Before travelling, check which office covers your address on the Telangana Transport site.

That check matters more here than in most cities, because the published directory information is unreliable.

What happens at a driving test track?

A test track is a marked circuit where an inspector assesses your driving before a permanent licence is issued.

Telangana runs automated tracks at several locations. Sensors and cameras record the manoeuvres, which removes much of the subjectivity from the result.

For a two-wheeler , expect a figure-of-eight and a slow-ride section. For a car, expect reverse parallel parking, a gradient stop and an angular course.

Arrive with your learner's licence, your slot confirmation and the vehicle you will be tested in. A failed test can usually be rebooked after a short waiting period.

Kiran's test was at Nagole. His vehicle paperwork would have been a separate trip to a separate office.

How to apply for a driving licence in Telangana

Start online on the Parivahan Sarathi portal, then attend only the stages that need you in person.

Learner's licence. Apply online, upload your documents and pay the fee. Book a slot for the computerised test on road signs and rules.

Permanent licence. Apply 30 days after your learner's licence is issued. Book a slot at a driving test track.

Renewal. File online. Renewal falls due every 20 years or at age 50, whichever comes first.

Duplicate licence. Apply online if yours is lost or damaged.

International driving permit. Apply at your RTA office with a valid Indian licence, passport and visa.

Telangana also runs the RTA-M Wallet app, which stores your licence and RC digitally.

Services offered at a Telangana RTA office

A registration office handles vehicles, licences, permits, taxation and fitness work.

Table: Services at a Telangana RTA office

Category

Services

Vehicle registration

New registration, temporary registration, permanent RC, duplicate RC, re-registration

Ownership

Transfer of ownership, transfer after the owner's death, address change in RC

Driving licence

Permits

Fitness and compliance

Taxation

NOC and hypothecation

Other

Driving tests are the exception. Those happen at a test track rather than at the counter.

Vehicle registration process in Telangana

Registration runs in five stages and a dealer usually files it for a new vehicle.

  1. Submit Form 20 with your supporting documents, at the office or on Parivahan.

  2. Pay road tax and the registration fee. Keep the receipt.

  3. Vehicle inspection. An officer checks the engine and chassis numbers.

  4. Verification and approval. The office assigns a permanent registration number.

  5. RC issued. The certificate is dispatched and can be downloaded on the RTA-M app.

Registration cannot be completed entirely online, since the vehicle has to be physically inspected.

Documents required for vehicle registration

The document set is the same whether you or your dealer files it.

  • Form 20, the application for registration

  • Form 21, the sale certificate from the dealer

  • Form 22, the roadworthiness certificate from the manufacturer

  • Form 34, where the vehicle is financed

  • Valid motor insurance certificate

  • Proof of identity and proof of address

  • Sales invoice from the dealer

  • PAN card or Form 60 where no PAN is held

  • Road tax receipt

  • Pencil print of the chassis and engine numbers

  • Temporary registration certificate

Insurance must be in force at registration. No vehicle can be registered without it.

TS or TG: which series applies to your vehicle?

Telangana has moved its registration series from TS to TG, so both appear on the roads today.

Vehicles registered under the older series keep their TS number. Newer registrations carry TG.

The change affects the letters on the plate rather than which office you deal with. Your registering authority stays the same.

Older directory pages and search results still use TS throughout. That is a sign the page has not been updated and worth noting when you rely on one.

Why your RTA work needs valid insurance

Valid insurance is needed at three points in the RTA process.

At registration. A vehicle cannot be registered without a valid certificate. Third-party cover is the legal minimum under Section 146 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

At ownership transfer. The policy must be transferred into the buyer's name separately. Until that happens, the new owner holds no own damage protection.

At fitness certification and permit renewal. Insurance forms part of the file for commercial vehicles.

Driving without valid insurance carries ₹2,000 for a first offence, rising to ₹4,000 for a repeat. You also remain personally liable for third-party compensation awarded against you.

Comprehensive cover is worth weighing against third-party alone in Hyderabad. The city combines dense ring-road traffic, monsoon flooding and heavy street parking. A third-party policy leaves all of that own damage exposure with you.

Zurich Kotak General Insurance Company (India) Limited covers cars and two-wheelers. Options include comprehensive, third-party and standalone own damage policies .

Conclusion

Work out what you need before you travel. A driving test and a registration job go to different places in this part of Hyderabad.

Nagole is a driving test track. TG-08 registration is handled by Medchal, on the other side of the city. Uppal has its own RTA office.

Verify your office on the Telangana Transport site rather than a directory listing. The published information on these offices is frequently wrong.

Kiran took his test at Nagole in the end. The drive to Jeedimetla would have been a wasted morning.
