Find Himachal Pradesh RTO offices, codes, addresses, contact details, and services for vehicle registration, driving licence, permits, and taxation information.
Every vehicle in Himachal Pradesh has to be registered with the Regional Transport Office, popularly called the RTO. The RTO is the office that issues the registration certificate, driving licence, fitness certificate, permits, and the unique HP series number that you see on every car and two-wheeler number plate in the state.
If you are buying a new vehicle, shifting your car from another state to Himachal Pradesh, applying for a driving licence, or transferring ownership, you will need to visit the correct RTO based on the district you live in. This page gives you the complete list of RTO offices in Himachal Pradesh, the HP RTO code for each office, the address, working hours, and the services you can avail at each location.
The Transport Department of Himachal Pradesh runs all Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) and Sub Regional Transport Offices (SRTOs) across the state. The department works under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989. It also follows the Himachal Pradesh Motor Vehicles Taxation Act.
The HP RTO codes start from HP-01 and go up to HP-99, with each code linked to a specific district, sub-division, or transport function. The codes appear as the first segment on every vehicle number plate registered in the state.
