How to Register a Vehicle at a Telangana RTO

Vehicle registration can be completed either through the car dealer or directly at the RTO. If you choose to register on your own, follow the steps below.

  1. Visit the RTO office: Take your unregistered vehicle to the nearest Telangana RTO.

  2. Fill Form 20: Obtain and complete Form 20 at the RTO counter with all required details.

  3. Attach required documents: Submit the completed form along with the documents listed below.

  4. Verification: An RTO official will verify the submitted documents and inspect the vehicle.

  5. Payment: Pay the applicable registration fee at the designated counter.

  6. Receipt of registration certificate: A smart card RC will be dispatched to your registered address within a few days.

  • Address proof (Aadhaar, Voter ID, or Passport)

  • Sale certificate from the car dealer

  • Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate

  • NOC from the previous state RTO (if vehicle is transferred from another state)

How to Renew a Registration Certificate in Telangana

Renewal of a registration certificate (RC) is required in two situations: when the current RC completes 15 years and is due for expiry, or when you move to Telangana from another state. The documents required for renewal are listed below.

  • Previous registration certificate

  • Receipt of road tax payment

  • Valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate
