Being the state capital of Gujarat, Ahmedabad witnesses a lot of new vehicle registrations every day. Thus, in order to guarantee that services are delivered without delay and in a timely way, the Gujarat government established two RTOs in Ahmedabad.
The Ahmedabad RTO was established under the Motor Vehicles Act. The Regional Transport Office in Ahmedabad has the responsibility of registering vehicles and giving driving licenses after the required tests have been completed. Given below is a list of major functions that are handled by the RTOs of Ahmedabad.
• To issue different types of licenses- conductor license, international driver’s license, etc.
• Registration of various vehicle types, including both personal and commercial vehicles, NOC issuance, etc.
• Inspection of vehicles at different checkpoints
• To collect revenue for the government
• To enforce road safety and traffic rules
• Improvement of the environment through PUC testing and CNG or LPG conversion.
Two types of vehicle registration services are provided by RTO Office Ahmedabad- temporary and permanent vehicle registration.
• Temporary Registration
When a customer purchases a new vehicle, the vehicle dealer issues a temporary registration that is valid for 7 days.
• Permanent Registration
The temporary registration has to be made permanent by registering the newly purchased vehicle in the RTO Office within the mentioned time frame.
RTO Ahmedabad issues different types of driving licenses. The list follows as-
• Motorcycle with a 50cc or less engine capacity (MCWoG)
An applicant must be 16 years of age or older to receive this license. Besides the needed documents, they also need their guardian's or parents' approval.
• Motorcycles with gear (MCWG)
Authorized to bikes with gears of different engine capacities. The applicant must be at least 18 years old and have all necessary documents ready.
• Two-wheelers without gear (MCWOG)
a permit for two-wheelers or mopeds without a gear.
• Heavy Commercial Service
Applicant should have passed the eighth grade and be at least 18 years old, with a driving training certificate from a state-approved school.
• LMVs
LMVs are issued to drivers of light vehicles such as cars, SUVs, vans, and jeeps.
• Transport Vehicle
The applicant must have completed the eighth standard, be at least 18 years old, and possess a valid driving training license.
Driving license for vehicles such as cranes, dozers, road rollers, etc.
