Secure drives with verified documents.
A lot of people aspire to own a car one day and take it out for road trips. If you already own a car or are planning to buy one, there are a few must-have documents that will allow you to drive legally without any hindrances. Car insurance policies with good coverage like Zurich Kotak General Insurance, vehicle registration, fitness certificate, and pollution under control certificate are these crucial documents. Here is all that you need to know about two essential documents.
Fortunately, you need not visit the RTO to verify the details of your vehicle. You can simply do it from the comfort of your home. Here are a couple of simple ways in which you can complete a vehicle registration check.
You can easily check the details of your vehicle’s registration on the Parivahan website, by following these simple steps.
Visit the official Parivahan website.
Look for the Informational Services option and select Know Your Vehicle Details.
Register on the website if you are not already registered.
Enter your vehicle number and the CAPTCHA and select Vehicle Search.
The website will provide all details pertaining to the car such as registration date, name, RTO, car insurance, PUC details, hypothecation status, validity of road tax and a few other details.
If you want to perform a vehicle registration check, you can do it via SMS as well. By sending a message to VAHAN (Registration number of the car) and sending it to 7738299899. For example, your SMS should look something like this, VAHAN KA01ZZ0011.
If you want to verify the fitness validity of your car, the steps aren’t too different from that of the vehicle registration. You can visit the Parivahan website and use the steps mentioned above. The website will list out all details of the car including fitness validity.
It is essential that you do not forget verifying car documents at regular intervals. The lack of any of these documents can set you back financially. For example, for the very first time that you are caught without a valid fitness certificate the penalty can be between Rs. 2000 to Rs. 5000. For consecutive offences, the penalty can range between Rs. 5000 to Rs. 10,000.
Similarly, lack of insurance can also result in hefty penalties. It can range between Rs. 1000 and Rs. 4000 depending on the state that you reside in. Checking regularly will let you know when you must apply for registration renewal, and you can opt for renewing car insurance. When you opt for Zurich Kotak Car Insurance, you will receive regular updates about renewing your car insurance, well in advance.
A fitness certificate and vehicle registration are two crucial documents for you to drive legally. Checking their status regularly will allow you to take preventive measures and apply for renewal when necessary. Renewing all the documents timely will ensure that you never have to pay hefty penalties to the traffic police department.
